Let Me Be

For so long I have been
ignored and pushed aside for the
prettier face and tighter body.

I was silenced as I watched the
queens of the world talk
me down and treat me like a serf.

As I grew, my shyness did as well.
As I grew, my weight ballooned.

As the years passed, I
found my voice through novels,
speech, debate, and
fictional persona.

I soon lost the weight
and gained self-worth.

I now speak against those who use me.
They call me a bitch,
and I tell them that I don't care.

I am a bitch,
and that means I am
comfortable with myself and
I stand up for my beliefs and passions.

Let me be.
Let me get close to my inner bitch.
