Leaving the Rez
I wore my anxieties like a fur coat.
My fears consumed me,
And I consumed lies like good gravy.
Hope had been lost because,
I was told I couldn't do it.
That I was being set up to fail.
Today I'm much different.
I try my hardest to heal myself.
I learned to forgive myself for all my faults,
I learned there's beauty all around me,
Most importantly in myself.
I proved to everyone that I could graduate high school,
and that I could pursue my dreams.
I just didn't expect myself to change this fast.
Please, don't give up.
