Before Leaving

Wed, 01/31/2018 - 20:36 -- DAlber

Before Leaving

before you

as though any of it mattered

we genuinely love

the treacherous descent in the dark

they're only scratches on a page

an outlandish

immaterial

hymn

wide-eyed wonder at her own pain

blaming herself

before god

only she wept

clambering down from the bed

repeating the same phrase over and over

I'm sorry
