Leaving

She watches the grandfather clock swing

Wtih ever pass, she asks the constant questions

Why did he leave?

What did she do?

Was it her fault he left?

Would he come back?

What was she to do know?

He left without a trace, without a sound

She had thought everything was fine

She stayed out of his way

She covered the bruises, hid them away

No one found out, she never told

She closed the door at night

Her feelings stayed inside when he slipped into her room

She squeezed her eyes shut so not to cry

She did everything right, but he still left

Now she was somewhere foreign to her

A woman told her she'll never be hurt again

Now she sits on a wooden bench

Staring at the grandfather clock thinking

Why Daddy? Why did you leave?
