Learning How to Live

In the cold, dark, and dreary night,
A hand reaches up, searching for light.
A deep hope fills the quiet space,
But the hand sinks down to a hidden place.

In the early morning time stands still,
But the birds chirp away on my window sill.
I know someone, somewhere had died in their sleep,
And in these hours their families will weep.

The morning comes and the morning goes,
Afternoon creeps up like sand between your toes.
The sun beats down from the bright, blue sky.
Gorgeous days like these are hard to come by.

The sun sets now, a deep orange and red.
I ignore the moonlight falling onto my bed.
The night is long, and cold, and dark,
But the setting sun ingnites a wondrous spark.

The spark now lives, but soon will die,
And too busy with life, I won't ask why.
As it flickers outlike an old, dull star,
I lose sight of hope and I crash my car.

Everything is blurryand I can't really see.
The pain is everywhere and no longer will I be.
Before I go, I have something to say...
Don't live in the past, just live for today.
