Language Barrier

Oh how I wish I can sing a thousand words,

to those who know my voice is sincere.

How raw my thoughs can be, how fiercely my words could reach.

Oh how I beg to be understood, to pronounce each word so right!

But like fish out of water I can't breathe, my vocals shatter, I can't speak.

I've manged to communicate with you my dear eagles,

Not because of a book.

More like a TV and subtitles constantly blinding my eyes.

A coqui patiently waiting 'til its night,

to sing it's newly learnt lullaby.

I barely manage to write, but with translator at hand.

To know if it is wrong, or if it needs another try.

How I wish it was easier, but oh how hard it is

to move to a new country, to new people, new language.

Not being able to explain fluently where you used to live.

This poem is about:
Me
My country
