This Lamp Post Wasn't There Yesterday

This Lamp Post Wasn't there yesterday.

It wasn't there before.

Something happened that day,

Though about that, I am not so sure.

Yesterday flew away like an angry bird;

It didn't say a word.

It flew over the bridge that later got burnt,

And the burning thought lessons that were to be learnt.

Fly, hover, soar.....

Higher and higher the bird just rose,

Until when the anger cracked and the bird froze.

Hanging above the bridge, in the void;

While with every moment it toyed,

Violently pecking athe the unsaid,

It started plucking out letters,

Trying to edit them out of its feathers,

The bird ripped itself open.

Oot of it came a green sludge,

A one-eyed monster.

Eager and hungry, he looked at the bridge;

Roasted the railings and charred the rest.

Bottles and love, memories and mush,

Shoelaces and affections, combined to converse,

Deciding whether to float, drown or partially immerse,

Into the waters that reeked of issues and trust.

As the wood burnt withits dimmest glow,

The breeze clicked the ashes into the flow.

Thick screens of stinging smoke,

Made the water tear up and choke.

Everything got mixed and muddled,

Inside the brain that already was scrambled.

The brain melted,

It stretched into a long, very long, very very long pole

The pole grew into a post,

And sprouted a head and a light bulb.

It then posted itself

Where the bridge once stood.

Clearing all the smoke as much as it could.

Yet, as long as the wind keeps getting rough,

And the monsters keep growing tough,

This Lamp Post will never be enough.

But, all this is for another day.

For now,

Though, I've never seen it before today,

This Lamp post that wasn't there yesterday,

I'll just make it mine and let it shine,

Along the way anyway!
