A Lament for Innocence

This is a cold world of ice and sorrow,

Wretched and lost, a search for survival.

Time does not pass under blankets of snow,

Nothing changes in this vicious cycle.

A caged songbird that can no longer sing,

Its silent song keeps tempo with a dirge.

A man flying free along broken wings,

Awaits for his punishments to converge.

They give him an impossible task to fulfill,

They stomp him down yet demand him to walk.

They corner a rat and bends it to their will,

And puts it on the front page for all to mock.

This is a cruel world that waits with bated breath,

Until the end comes and he embraces death.
