Life is hard as a pair of laces
Always by feet, never by faces
I want to see the beauty of a world up high
I ache for space and air and sky
I detest the dirt and condemn the smell
The tugging and tying is a constant hell
Pinching and pulling are all I'm allowed
I'm hidden by the shadows of the surrounding crowd
I long to be free, to loosen my ties
To unwind and unfold, to jump, to fly
The birds in the sky ignore me in their glee
Even the worms in the dirt have more freedom than me
Pulled in every direction weather I like it or not
This dirty, gritty life is all that I've got
