Just Playing the Cards I'm Dealt
Just Playing the Cards I’m Dealt
All my troubles I used to blame on God.
From His actions I thought they came.
It was He laid the path I trod,
Designed the players and the game.
I’d rage against triple injustice:
Dealt bipolar and diabetes
Plus a dysfunctional family.
One I might handle, but not all three!
Chorus: Now God’s shown me another way.
On my old troubles I’ve not dwelt.
Needn’t reshuffle the deck today,
I’m just playing the cards I’m dealt.
I’d stomp my foot, I’d shake my fist
And loudly I’d protest.
Of His reasons I’d not get the gist.
My life to me was a useless quest.
God spoke of His will betrayed
In a world of man against man.
Man’s hard-hearted hatred made
That often frustrated His great plan.
Chorus:
Forgiveness is God’s gift to man,
Both forgiven and forgiver are freed.
Could I forgive God? Yes, I can!
It healed my broken heart, indeed.
Freed now from bitterness and strife,
Rage and anger now no longer felt.
I’m asking God’s plan for my life
And just playing the cards God’s dealt.
