"just a color"

Mon, 04/30/2018 - 08:47 -- anmooz

He claimed he didn’t know,

He swore he was in danger,

Or was it just his mind?

The way he was portraying the color to himself,

As just a color…

Not a color with a family, like his own,

Not a color with a heart,

Or a job,

Or a life,

Or  an importance,

You were just a color,

And all it took was a single hand moment,

A single shot

And here we are,

Fights,

Chaos,

Tears,

Yelling,

All because of your skin,

Skin that you had no choice but to claim

Skin that shouldn’t matter based on surface,

But on background,

Not the pigment,

But the power…

But now you’re gone,

But you have a whole army of supporters,

Standing up for your skin

For your background,

For your justice.
