July Healing
My soul was muggy cut
by cool lake waters dripping
with your heat through dark green cotton;
it made me shiver.
We breathed late in voices weighed down
when you asked to put your arm around me.
Being, felt tender with you that day,
we hushed and hurt closer.
I looked up and you held the moment frozen
with your eyes and I broke inside to reach your kiss.
The taste of orange juice and tequila on your lips,
your hand was unsure feathering above my knees.
Pink light played in our eyes and across our faces,
we melted into Wes Anderson.
That night our garbage-
can recycling hearts felt better
and I can still taste your self
within my lips and around my tongue.
