The Journey

A sea of people, eyes wide and ears open

listening intently to the compassion of my voice and conviction of my words

which has now sent me on a brand new journey

Eighteen years in the making has led up to this moment

A moment where I am making the transition from a young adolescent into a young adult with a greater purpose

Late nights, early mornings, and everything in between

Her cramped hands glide across the keyboard with a dancer’s grace

All with a goal in mind of giving her early blessing the chance for a prosperous life

with less obstacles

Whether she was denied a thousands times or listened to once

she always came back with the same goal in mind

Eyes weakening, years and years of energy draining

As I now look in the face of my future

I use technology to embody her skill

as my voice has now taken the place of her hands

I lace up my dancing shoes to continue the number

I’ve never had many friends or been close with many people

But words have always been there when I felt like nobody was listening

Even though she may eventually be on her way out

The skills instilled in me will always remain

As the years and years go on

I hope I can be half the person she is and continue to positively affect many people’s lives

Giving them a fighting chance at their dreams
