Jasmine

Thu, 12/24/2020 - 09:37 -- kausar

A handful of jasmine
Fragrant and white
Brings back memories
Of hot summer nights

Smells of childhood
Wet mud baked in the sun
Chirps of crickets
The hours of fun

Tired, carefree days
Dewy green grass
Friendships that were meant
To forever last

The sweet smell of jasmine
Carried on the winds
Brings back to life
Songs i'd forgotten to sing

I long for the simple times
When life seemed perfect
And jasmines bloomed
But no sad eyes wept.
