Jack's Light
Jack thought she was the most fascinating being
Everytime the moon fell and blue light blanketed the earth,
He felt her, but for only moments, constantly fleeting
How desperately did Jack want to see her, the one who gave him birth
His father, the widower, struggled to make ends meet
Despair in his eyes, “find coin Jack”, he said
Jack obeyed his father, but only so they could eat
Things haven't been the same since she lied in that bed
Out he went, door to door, yet to find what he was looking for
Soon he met an elderly woman who offered him beans
Jack counted them, only four
He thanked the woman and put them in his jeans
When the sun set, he returned home
Father wondered what he’d have to call his own
With the door closed behind him, Jack reached into his pocket, fingers roamed
His hands revealed three beans, the fourth, unknown
Father cooked the beans
The boy sat with eyes glued to the table
Dinner came and went in scenes
That depicted something nothing can label.
Night came and rain found the ground as the silence grew loud
Jack dreamt of when he’d see her again
Maybe high up in the sky somewhere, where the light begins in a cloud
When morning came, outside the window was something incomprehensible by any brain.
A beanstalk, larger and taller than anything ever seen
Naturally, the boy ran outside and marveled at it
So… that's what happened to the bean
Jack climbed up step by step until he hit
Something soft above his dark brown hair
It seemed this is where the beanstalk began to end
He climbed onto a luxurious cloud that lie there
On he walked, for hours that seemed to rend
He finally came across a marvelous palace
Glass walls met glass floors
The handle was cold, but not with malice
Something had drawn him here, but what for?
Jack walked down a lonesome hall, with no rush
Something began to grow in his chest
A warmth that became separable from the exterior, very much
Suddenly he halted at the end of the hall, for what he saw was self-professed
She turned away from the window that held her gaze
It was the end of the ache
The source of the light, he was amazed
A porcelain face with a smile that could never break
Eyes that mirrored his own
And a tear, just like his, streaming down her cheek
He was no longer alone
He stood still as a rock, for he never expected this
She walked over, seemed to be flying
Pressed her hand to his cheek and spoke “You are the one I’ve missed”
She held him in an everlasting embrace while he was crying
“Mother…” he managed to utter
“I’ve missed you, I want to stay with you, please”
“I have as well, but alas you must stay with your father
Go back home, we'll see eachother again
Take this stone and the pain will heal
Hold it when you think of me
You'll feel better, I promise, you'll see”
Jack, with a dried tear, took one last glance
Turned away and conformed to his mother's desire
She said he’d get another chance
To see her
Back home now
Father had no clue
Wow
Could anyone ever believe it to be true?
