It's What You Need

Sometimes we don’t get what we want,

But we end up with what we need.

Life can get dark only to shine.

The storm will ruin your picnic,

But light up your sky with lightning.

Coffee doesn’t taste as good

Unless you stand out in the rain.

A hug doesn’t mean as much,

Unless when you miss it for days.

As one door closes,

Another one opens.

It may be the small glisten in a dark corner

That catches your eye

Instead of the chandelier above your head.

Without the night

We wouldn’t have the stars.

Life has a funny way of taking away what you want,

But giving you what you need.
