It Rained Last Night
Location
It rained last night, and i saw him there. Not a care i saw him there. Not a care I saw him wet, I saw him cold, wrapped up in a sky blue sleeping bag on the concrete. Not a care I saw him there and I left him there as i walked on by.
I walked on by, yes I walked on by, but it was cold; I was cold! It was wet and i had a train to catch! So I had a care, but my care was leaving at 4:15pm...i had to get home!....HOME...a place that's so familiar to me. A place where I have my possessions and my personalities, but home, a place to him in the sky blue torn sleeping bag that was mended with gray duct tape down the sides, may only know home as a distant memory if any, but I didn't care. I mean I did care about my 4:15, but I saw him wet, i saw him cold, I saw him wrapped up in the sky blue torn sleeping bag mended with gray duct tape on the sides. On the corner of Canal and Lake St in Chicago was his home. He had no possessions, yes the sleeping bag was in fact his, but that was his SHIELD, and not a very good one either. His personalities, well, if he had I don't know because I had somewhere to be. See, I was in the rain and had to catch my train at 4:15, not a care I saw him there, but I had a care.
He didn't need money, nor did need food, but a home. A real shield with heat, dryness, and comfort. But, it doesn't matter know. No sense to state my shoulda coulda wouldas, nor dwell on the past because I just passed him by as i saw him wet, I saw him cold wrapped up in a soaked sky blue sleeping bag torn, but mended with gray duct tape on the sides. Not a care I saw him there and I left him there as I walked on by. Not a care at all I'm on the train now and heading on my way Home.
As I arise the next day in the sunrise, as I'm surrounded by my superficial possessions and personalities I will just think about how It Rained Last Night.
