It Happened to Me

You never know who you can tell.

It can make you hide behind your walls and build a shell.

It started with a drink, how did it end up like this?

I didn't tell him 'yes,' so why did he give me a kiss?

I pushed him off and said no, he apologized and ran away.

I woke up with my bra off the next day.

I tried to tell my best friend what happened and she dismissed me.

Why can no one hear nor understand my plea?

I understand what happened to you, because it happened to me.

There are people who will hear our stories, and we will not be forgotten as a part of history.

What we say matters, and things will change.

Speak out, be bold, don't let it just rattle around in your brain.
