I wake up at 6am

First thing I do is check my phone

From morning to night I surround my self by the internet like a security blanket

because that is what it is.

People talk about the internet like it is a drug

like it kills and controls you

I just want to be like " But like man it's soooo good once you're on it"

The internet is my drug.

It sets my mind free and brings me to life.

My head is up in the clouds that I see on Instagram

And I scroll through my twitter feed

feeding off of the information I read.

My best friends are Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube, and Netflix

But me and Facebook don't talk anymore.

Oh don't get me wrong I have real friends too and we are all the same.

We are the people that make funny comments

who don't raise our hands,

But we whisper the answers under our breath.

The kids who sit in the back of class listening to music,

The girl who draws all over her notebooks,

The kids who look like they aren't paying attention,

But really they are.

We are the freaks

Friendly,

Friendless,

The kids who talk to everybody.

The writers,the artists, the singers and dancers.

The overachievrs and the underachievers.

We are the fandoms!

From Gleeks to Whovians

From Twihards to Dumbledore's Army,

WE ARE THE INTERNET!

We tweet to spread our thoughts,

just like birds do.

Tumblr, Tumblr, Tumbling through a blur of GIFs and pictures

Trying to find ourselves

We use youtube as an escape,

Because we start off safe with Jenna Marbles and Daily Grace

But then we dive right in because we feel at home.

We come back up for a breath in a land of Nerd fighters and Coollikers,

Where people don't hide behind a profile that says

"HI. Im awkward" when we're really not.

... O.K.. well maybe we are sometimes.

And yes I have my heaf up in the clouds

But I like it better up there

I live in a parallel universe,

Where trolls are ignored like younger sibllings

And love and happiness are spread like hate is here on Earth

The internet saves me,

Shows me,

Loves me,

Holds me,

Just like friend.

It is my artistic medium,

My therapist ,

And my megaphone.

People say that the internet is crazy,

and it is true because " we are all mad here."

But the ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who will.

We are the addicted generation

We will change the world.

Wee are the innovators,

The music makers,

The dreamers.

We are the doers,

The movers and shakers,

The future content creators,

We are the fan girls and guys,

We are the addicted.

I am a thinker,

A dreamer,

A changer,

A mover,

A maker,

I am an overachiever and an underachiever.

I listen to music in the back of the class and draw on my notebooks.

I dont raise my hand,

I am an internet kid!

And I am proud to say I am addicted!
