Inspired by Restoration

Love and pain,

Horror and change.

A good book that tells a story,

Or maybe something filled with glory.

I ask myself, “what does inspire me?”

Then I’m drawn back to memories crashing down like raging seas.

Am I inspired by my past and what I’ve gone through?

That would be a story, or maybe someone else’s residue.

I’m not going to say I’m inspired by the cliche of nature,

I’m not going to say I’m inspired by life itself.

I’m inspired by something that goes deeper within oneself.

Perhaps it’s their interests or what they’re like.

No, no, it’s something more meaningful and hard enough to strike.

I’m inspired by you, me, and everyone else.

Look at the world as it is today.

Sure it’s beautiful and full,

But it’s also reckless and ill.

Though we’ve tried changing its heartless ways,

It all seems to go in a cycle of endless heartbreak.

It doesn’t matter what kind of pain it is.

All that matters is it hurls us into an abyss.

Yet here we are still living and telling our story.

Something so plain and visible,

Yet it’s well disguised as being formidable.

We don’t realize our strength inside.

We should be proud of what there isn’t to hide.

I’m inspired by our powerful emotions and hidden resurrection.

But most of all, I’m inspired by our ascension.

We’ve all got a story to tell, no matter how little or small.

Just one piece of the puzzle could change someone else’s shortfall.

We’re still here and we’re still going.

That should be enough to revel in one’s bestowing.

Don’t take anything for granted for soon it will be gone.

So in the meantime, just enjoy what waits beyond.
