Ink Runs Through My Veins

I am a poet
Ink, rather than blood
Runs through my veins
My heart
Is a typewriter
I hide pens around my apartment
Along with paper
Just in case I want to write
I leave poems for myself
And for my fiancé
To find when she is looking for something
Because I am a poet
I cannot stop these words from flowing
Even if I wanted to
If these letters you see
Spell out something familiar
If you are a brother or sister of mine
Then raise your ink stained fists
And together we shall leave our words painted across the sky
For all to see
The sound of our typewriter hearts
Will echo in every ear
Our family shall not be ignored
