Impatience

by Ariel Douglas (14 November 2014)

Lord, I’m getting sick of waiting

but I know that just means I’ll have to do it longer

God, I want an answer now

but that just means You’ll hold it longer

Father, give me a revelation!

Alas, You say “It is not yet your time to know”

Jesus, I’m waiting and crying and begging you here

And like with a toddler You’re ignoring me until I settle down

Christ, I’m getting so impatient

And that’s when You grant me the grace to wait more

Spirit, show me my next turn!

But You tell me to sit at the rest stop and focus on You

Yahweh, give me a next step!

But You smile and say that I’ve not finished this one yet

Jehovah, why do You refuse me an answer?

You tell me I need to practice patience

Savior, I don’t have any patience…

You say “Be still and know that I am God”

Creator, I haven’t got time for this

You laugh and say “This is MY universe to run as I please”

Abba, please grant me patience.

A relieved sigh as You say “You’re finally starting to understand”

Immanuel, help me to let everything go

With this in Your hands You can carry-out Your plans

I AM, I will wait for Your timing

You nod and tell me I’ve finally taken the hint

Counselor, I give up control, take it all

You hug me and say it will all be okay now

Daddy, I love You and live to serve You

With heartfelt joy You give my revelation; Your plan is perfect for me
