I'm Here
Though in my pain you find dearest pleasure
Your words for eternity I shall always treasure
For in loquacious expression you make so plain
Memories once beautiful now wrapped in pain
The stories you tell no matter how queer
To mine own thoughts and feelings always adhere
And the joy they express I always remember
How they kept me warm in less joyous September
And when I felt cold and broken and alone
When starved dreams ate me down to the bone
When my last companion was constant fear
You came into my life your words whispered I’m here
And from lost loves and hopes you were conceived
Words born from my soul giving lasting reprieve
From the ephemeral joys that made me grieve
The pen is the love that stays when I leave
