IF I WERE A POET
If l were a poet
My art would be to craft
To summon words Uncommon
To dump in a lump
The deepest emotions to the crest.
If l were a poet
I would reach out to teach
The usage of the age
Wrapped and trapped
Beneath the feet of great feat.
If l were a poet
I would paint till l faint
On my canvas and score a pass
With a relish of polish
To strike my hike.
If l were a poet
Here a little, there battle
Freak ebbing tide of the creek
Vanished like a king banished
To roam without a home.
