if i die before i wake

Sleep is normally oblivion

but for me, its a nightmare that I live in.

Haunting dreams and scary thoughts.

My mind ties up in knots.

Brutal murders, wars and fights

Fill up my evenings and nights.

Unnerving thoughts come and fade,

terrible memories I had not bade.

Fear creeps deep into my bones,

my head full of reoccuring groans.

At night, I'm afraid to go to bed.

Everything I see is red.

Wails pierce the silence that I hear

Terror seems so utterly near.

Heaven my soul should take,

if I die before I wake.
