I Write Because I Can

I write because I can.

I got one two three four, FIVE fingers on both my hands.

And NO, before you leave thinking this is “DUMB”,

SIT DOWN and finish reading my poetic story first.

WE HAVE FIVE FINGERS ON BOTH OF OUR HANDS (while some others don’t).

WE HAVE A BODY THAT CAN MOVE.

WE HAVE EYES THAT CAN READ AND SEE ALL AROUND US.

A BEATING HEART THAT IS GIVING US PROOF—

PROOF THAT WE ARE STILL ALIVE!

…And yet we still take things for granted.

Well,

Let Me tell You something.

DID YOU KNOW WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF YOU BEING ALIVE?

1 IN A BILLION!

THE ODDS OF YOU BEING ALIVE ARE BASICALLY ZERO.

…I thank God.

I thank God for making me alive and healthy,

He is, after all, keeping my heart beating.

I thank God for giving me eyes,

I can see, and look, I’m still blinking.

He gave me a whole body,

One with arms, hands, feet, and legs.

I use all of them.

I run because I can.

I throw because I can.

And most of all,

I Write Because I Can.
