Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies
But I know the man I really was
And he’s different from your hateful cries

My life was filled with wonder
And my story reached the skies
But to this day you’ll never maim
The true glory of my life

I may have offended you once upon a time
I may have made decisions that you could never find
But life is scary for both me and you
So why bring me down? Oh what did I do?
