I Used To Be Waterproof
I was once waterproof,
And then it rained.
Relentless pouring
Soaked my sole.
Was it love? Was it hate?
You were both.
I used to dance in the rain,
Until it seeped through
And left me in shame.
Now I can’t even leave you to blame.
I used to love, now I hate.
I stay inside these days.
Does that make me weak?
Am I afraid?
Should I change my coat
To a harder shell?
Or wait in the closet
‘Til the sun comes out?
The sun is dry
And I am thirsty
Outside is safe
Until it rains
I was once waterproof
Before I met you.
Thought I was quenched,
Then you left me cold.
Now I’m warm,
But I am dry.
I am weak.
I stay inside.
