I teach.

Although not  certified.

The lessons I have taught cannot be verified on a master planner.

Speaking one's mind

Or staying behind with a friend in need

Is one of the most satisfying deeds.

Just as Angelou rose,

I will raise girls with ripped pantyhose.

The inequalities in our education system will be rectified

through my hard work;

one student at a time.

When they're not feeling fine about their appearance.

When they think no one cares.

When they think they're too stupid.

When they fall in and out of love and blame cupid.

I will raise their esteem,

their expectations,

their hopes.

I teach.

Although not certified.

I will be

And when I am, I will teach some more

Until they force me to retire.

I will not tire.

I will keep treading the waters.
