I Still Love Us
I write because of history
I write to show you what’s come to be
I want you to help where you can
To lessen the pain that’s befallen man
It’s hard for me to speak out loud
I hate the noise; I hate the crowd
My words stumble and people doubt
I write because there’s no way out
If you won’t listen, then you will read
There are lessons you must heed
We must learn from our bloody past
We must change, as the new age asks
I want to be heard without a voice
So I will write; there’s no other choice
I write because I still love us
We can change, in that I trust
This poem is about:
Our world
