I Should be Paying Attention to this Bio Lecture....
I really should be writing notes right now
Because in a few days I’ll need to know these things
But why?
To get a good grade.
To get a good grade?
togetagoodgrade togetagoodgrade togetagoodgrade
TO GET A GOOD GRADE.
To pass a test has become something powerful
Test scores are now what determine how much I am worth
To colleges, to my friends, even to my parents.
An A deserves applause,
A B deserves “you could do better”
A C is “what’s going on with her?”
A D is punishment.
What happens with an F?
Is it more important for me to get an A,
Then it is for me to feel loved?
Is it more important to beat everyone else,
Then it is to find something I like to do?
Is studying more important than sleep,
Is the measure of my worth really contained in an SAT?
I got 1550 on the mock SAT,
An F on normal terms.
But what if I got 2559?
I would still be criticized for getting that one thing wrong.
And even then would I feel like enough?
No.
Because since day one I’ve had it ingrained in my brain
That failure is okay, except not really
because if you fail you will be judged and damned.
No one wants a loser,
But not everyone can win.
It’s the time old paradox,
And I’m tired of it.
Out with it I say,
Failure is needed to live!
But say that and they’ll burn you at the stake.
Yet again,
I’ll cry as I get through the textbook
That makes me want to gouge my eyes out
But why do I do it?
Because if I don’t I’ll fail.
And they’ll never accept this ,
This failure that I am without perfect success.
No one wants a failure.
But what if,
What if!
I suceed at failing.
A gasp from my mother.
I scowl of disappointment from my father
A red mark from my teacher,
And snicker from my peer.
In the game of life, everyone wants to be the doctor,
Because he makes the most money.
He can have the largest salary.
And the artist only gets the lowest.
But sometimes doctors are poor,
And artists are the richest.
No one wants to admit it.
But you can’t spend your whole life afraid of failure.
The guy who invented the light bulb
He failed a bunch of times
But he is now regarded as one of the smartest men of all time
So the real moral of the story is
That if at first you fail, its okay
As long as you suceed in the end.
Make your own path,
Go your own way.
Be happy with your life as you live it.
And if it ends in failure,
At least you were happy.
And that,
That is true success.
History notes?
Nay, I’ll go write a poem.
