I run fast

Thu, 06/20/2013 - 13:25 -- Skunk

I run fast from the ones that I love

I am falling into a different part of me

I was looking for light but found colors instead

I dance on this string of life

I can not fall

Or I’ll drown in this sea of boredomness

I laugh when it rains

I love to get wet

But I dare not leave this Iron Gate

For my innocence is hidden

And I’m hardly yet prepared

To carve out flesh from flesh

I'm sournded by all knowledge

But crave every part of wickedness

I cannot see the world around me

But how I yearn to have it

For I am what you call protected

The ones with age put up this gate

And how I hate to have it

“Close your eyes and run from it,

For it will have your full attention

Young one, be wise and don’t be fooled

It holds a trap that drips red pools

And leaves a stain that fools one’s head

So cold it stops the drum within.”

But I still stand on tippy toes

To see every little part of it

One day I will grow up, they will see

And I will taste and see those things

For now I’ll run from those I love

And pray they never catch me
