I Know Why The Little Black Girl Cries

I know why the little black girl cries

She has come a long way from lying stiff on the wooden planks
Survived through the middle passage and made babies
The little black girl cries because she is pained
This pain had nothing to do with the physical things
She could take the worst beating from old master and the most horrific names the white children would say
That little black girl cries because all her work was put to waste
All her struggles have gone to be seen by only the blind mans eye
That little black girl sheds the worst tears because she feels unappreciated
And some look at her and think but we gave you a whole month dedicated
Well that month don't seem like much when little black children run around here acting crunk
That one month ain't too much when our people would rather be locked up in jail cells than to be free because that is the only time three meals are gareenteed
That one month don't seem like much when people of our complexion would do anything just to have fifteen minutes of being famous
I know why the little black girl cries
She is so tired of being denied by the colored who could pass for white
She can't help but cry because she knows they don't realized she had to be raped battered and abused so that they may have their complextion
That little black girl cries for all the black people who are confused about the history she had to go through
I know that the little black girl cries because she has nothing better to do since pain is the only emotion she can feel
The little black girls tears are a mark of defeat
Now if you ever wondered this is why the little black girl cries
