I Do Believe

Weakened by the turmoils of the world
I am contained
By the television screens that speak of the cruelties
And hinders my heart day after day

I find it a blessing to make it through a day's worth of school
Praying that it won't be my last
That "I love you" in the morning spoken to my mother
I hope won't be the last thing said that's stuck forever in the past

I find it a blessing to be able to enjoy a movie
Without worrying about the terrors that creep in the night
But seldomly I look up to the heavens
For reassurance that everything will be alright

I find it a blessing to be in top shape
And to be able to run worry-free
I wear a cross upon my chest as I cross the finish line
Because I know that it could have been me

I am made stronger by the turmoils of the world
I have been set free
By the television screens that speak of the cruelties
God will protect me and in that I do believe
