I Can't Make You Understand
You tell me you understand,
you tell me you care,
you tell me you will listen,
but you never do.
A good teacher would,
but not you.
Oh no, you’re an imposter.
A classroom front
who recites from the book.
I asked for a little help,
When I thought I could trust you.
I relied on you to be the one who had an anwer.
I looked up to you…
You looked down on me.
You said you understood, “but…”
There is no “but” when
you are sworn to help your students.
There is no “but” to somebody
who understand, as you lyingly promised.
There is no “but” when so many
young faces are turned up at you
in reliance, in hope, in trust.
I simply trust not to ask you for help again,
yet you would refuse to understand.
