I Am Not Pretty
Location
I have freckled cheeks and chapped lips.
I have never known what to do with my hair,
and I'm sure I sweat my makeup off before lunch everyday.
I am not pretty.
Because pretty is a flower,
pretty is a sunset,
and I am not pretty.
I am human.
And my self worth is not directly related
to how "pretty" people think I am.
I am a woman.
And we women birth nations.
I will only filter myself to protect your eyes from all my glory
because you don't stare directly at the sun.
My eyes are windows and you are not looking hard enough
or you would see the rivers that flow into oceans
that cover vast expanses.
But you're worried about how pretty I am.
