I Am Not Me
I am the sailboat amid the treacherous storm,
The damsel in distress, her shoulder bore.
The whirling winds wrecking ships,
I am the body washing up on shore.
I am the setting sun behind the sea,
The maddest one you’ve seen.
I am lost.
I am afraid.
I am the girl beneath the rain.
I am the violin without the strings,
And I promise heaven is screaming.
I am Frankenstein’s monster,
Distant from duality.
I am the line between creative
And insane.
This may be who I am,
Or who my malady claims to be,
But I am definitely not who I am meant to be.
I am a child of seventeen,
With my life planned ahead of me,
And a different me to meet.
