I AM MORE THAN JUST COLOR
I am more than color,
I am a young female who is trying to make it,
someone who is not out here trying to fake it,
but the hope of one day to telling my baby girl I made it,
I am more than color,
I am the first to break from my teen pregnancy family curse,
really I am the first to not open my legs,
but I realize my education must come first,
I am more than color,
I am someone who faked a smile at work everyday,
because she knew in order to get pay,
she had to entertain,
in order to feel welcome in another white women work space,
I am more than the average black female statistics
I am my mothers living dream
I am more than what you see of me
I AM MORE THAN COLOR
I am more than color
We are young African American female teens
who still have dreams
I am tired of seeing us being portray as young pregnant, uneducated teens
