I am black and strong

I wonder will the world ever stop being prejudiced

I hear encouraging words from my ancestors

I see what our past leaders have done for us

I want to be that person to stand up 

I am black and strong 

I pretend I am talking to the people I idolize

I feel the pain and suffering our people went through 

I touch the hands of the people who sacrificed a lot

I worry about the sacrifices I have to make 

I cry when they kill our brothers and sisters

I am black and strong

I understand that we’ve came a long way from those Tubman days 

I say I am the next leader for our generation 

I dream that one day we will run the nation 

I try to work hard so I can make a difference

I hope we will have enough courage to run the nation
