Human Try

To be human is to fall

To reach but fail from every goal

To try and try and try and hope

To grip the ever-sliding rope

That falters in its endless climb

The metaphor inside your mind

Of what you think you can, you won’t

You’ll never earn just what you want.

Trick yourself to believe

That you’re not falling effortlessly,

You’re flying up towards a dream,

You’re swimming up, not starting to sink.

But seconds lie like ticking time

And flickering flames start to shine

You think you’re going up and around

But you’re actually just going down.

Down to heat and down to flame

You’re the only one to blame

For evil found within your skin

For drought and plague and fear and sin

For condemning all the noble true men

For being real and being human.
