How to Let Go

To those of us who carry our pain

because "just forgetting" isn't possible:

Pick one heartbreaking memory

Something you've suppressed for so long

Letting is out may threaten to destroy you

Write it down,

Describe the pain of the memory in detail

Use words,

Trace the outline of your pain with the tip of your pen

Using your tears as ink

Dwell on it,

Let the tragedy of the past consume you

Yeah, in the beginning

It'll hurt like Hell

But as time goes on, the knife doesn't cut so deep

Little by little you'll notice

the pain starts to fade

The memory no longer consumes you

In the end you'll realize

You relived your own tragic story

And realize you're still ALIVE

When the pain is completely lifted

Hide the pages

Or better yet

BURN THEM

Because one tragic memory shouldn't define who you are.
