"How I Found Poetry"

The first time I picked up a poem;

Shel Silverstein took me away.

I could not put the book down;

so with the story I stayed.

As I continued to grow older;

I needed more to read.

That is where I allowed;

Mr. Poe to take the lead.

Today I would tell you the same;

I love to read and write.

Ellen Hopkins is now my favorite author;

her stories have got some bite.

No matter what the tale;

poetry is great I've always found.

It is art in the form of words;

beauty unmatched in every word and sound.
