Hope not Lost

Every corner I turn

Seems to offer so much hate
In this world

Why can’t we just stop to appreciate

The good things that
We seem to pass on by
The subtle smiles

The memories that seem to tie

Us to love
Is it really to much to ask

For everyone to cooperate

Without putting up a mask.

I wish it was so simple

Where no one could be sad

Where people helped each other
And no one could get mad
at the small things

And really everything is small
Where people stay up all night
Waiting on a call

that could change the world
Yet the truth speaks

We can all influence one another
By a simple meet and greet.

So when you get a chance today
Or even on tomorrow
Look around the world and smile
Please forget all of the sorrow.

This place where we live

May seem small at times
But dreams are big so

Go for them, it is not a crime.

Even if we can not coexist
The new ideas of the younger

May bring us closer to a peace
That used to seem so far under

the depths of retrieval.

But I tell you there is hope.

Do not give up on this generation quite yet

There really is no need to mope.

We will change things.

For the better.
