Hope and Misery

Location

The brightness of a smile, the touch of a hand,

can rectify the pain of bullies that no one understands.

The flick of a wrist, a word stemmed from hate,

pushing them to choose their own dark fate.

The bite of a razor, the cut of a blade,

no other choice, unable to be brave.

No way to stand up, no way to win,

Strangled by the vanity inspiring their sins.

The cruelty of bullying, the crying out from fear,

the whimper from their anger, the path that's left by tears.

The relief to be found with supporters, the happiness of a friend,

the strength to be gathered by someone willing to end

the cycle of abuse that none can escape alone,

but can still make a difference if they are not on their own.

It's impossible to imagine, the sadness and despair,

when left with no belief save for the thought of no one there.

Anyone can help, with the courage, the desire,

and the will to make a change, the will to inspire

the youth of today

so that they'll change their way.
