Homelessness: The City Is My Home
Living day by day, street by street
Cherishing the little things we get to eat
Fighting for life, even when it's not the best
Survival, it seems like one big test
No pride living here
Sad and broken
Having to watch my back
Sleeping with one eye open
While you all shower and feel little pain
I'm here, trying to keep dry from the rain
The muggings and murders
I've witnessed it all
You turn to the news channels
And stare in awe
But it's still not enough
Still nothing comes to change
You still pass by me on the streets
Thinking I'm strange
But my heart is so kind
I'm just like you all
I just didn't make it
I'm not standing so tall
My home is the city
The city all around
The deep dark alleys
The cold hard ground
But I wouldn't change a thing
This is how it's supposed to be
I'm waiting here like a princess
For a prince to save me.
