Homelessness

I think of the moments of comfort
I think of Christmas, the goodness and light,
The peace and joy
But look at me!! Look at us!!
Do we know how many people need us?
But yet still we enjoy our comfort, not think ‘in about others,
Out in the street, out in this nation that is equal,
This nation the has liberty and justice for all,
And we still have:
People that live in the corners of broken building,
People that are treated like an outcast,
People that are treated like they are not a valuable piece of our society,
And yet when we go to eat we don’t think about these people,
They are people that are:
Hungry not only for food,
But hungry for the joy we can give them.
Naked not only for clothes,
But naked for our compassion and respect we can give them.
These people are not homeless for shelter,
But homeless because of rejection and judgment we give to them.
And still these people look out at the, horizon waiting for a bright day of justice to emerge.
