Her Vs. The World

When a black girl is born, there is only silence.

When a black girl is born, there sre no cheers of celebration or cries of joy or happiness.

For when a black girl is born, it is to a sad present, and a painful future,

For when the one's who birthed her know that her journey through life was going to be long and difficult, 1) because of her skin, 2) because of her skin,

But when the black girl grows up, and suddenly, in a blink of an eye, becomes a black women, what is there to say?

Becareful who you trust and where you go? But even if you had told her that warning, only through experience could she ever truly understand their true meaning.

Because for black women, it is always us against the world, but the only way for her to fully understand that, is to let her experience the world for herself.

There are certain things you can teach a girl, but only time and experince will help her get a full handle on the dangerous world their in, and help create the beautiful, powerful woman she can be. This is what Maya Angelouhas taught me.
