Her

“Her”

He was very mysterious

Kept to himself

They thought she was delirious

Was too open

She loved the feeling of sand between her toes

The wind snatching at her hair

What he loved, no one knows

Only one thing, did he care

She ran along the shore

Pounding through the tide

He hid behind a closed door

All he did was hide

As she laughed and twirled, happiness a flight

Kicking up sand and shells

He wanted to disappear, and do it he might

Sitting on the steps, lulled by church bells

She prayed day and night

Hoping they would see

Alas, he cried, the pain was to bright

The urge to leave, to run, to flee

She splashed through the water, sending up salty waves

Water glistening her lips

He sat alone in a cave

Feeling the dip of rock, imagining speeds on a ship

She felt the gentle breath of a breeze

 The saltiness on her tongue

She screamed as the current

Swept her away

Carried her cries

Far away

He felt the sadness too soon

Heard her screams from far

The shrill sound of her cries

Came too late

As she met her fate

The only one thing did he care

Had been the one thing he did want

Had been the only thing he cherished

Had been the only thing he loved

Had been her
