Helping People In Need

Children in America are in a sense spoiled, and are lucky to live the life they have. They don't know what it's like not to have money or to have such luxuries as a cell phone or even a roof over their heads.

Those same children go on living the rest of their lives oblivious to the people around them, to the turmoil and violence and heartbreak.

Africa, a wonderful continent, is deemed unlivable and sometimes scary by people who have been sheltered from reality. The reality that a lot of children live. The reality without parents, the struggle for survival, the constant hunger and sleep deprivation. It's sad, really, that this has happened and continues to do so in many parts of the world.

My dream job would be to join the Peace Corps and go to countries in Africa and not only experience their day to day activities, but help build basic infrastructure so they may live a better, easier life.

Many people think I'm crazy for wanting to do this, for wanting to move to such a terrible place. It all starts with one person. If that one person doesn't try and make a difference, then who else will? There were many people way before me that wanted the same things I do

Sadly, those same people that think I'm crazy also don't think I will actually go. It's quite depressing, however it only makes me more determined to prove them wrong and really make a difference for those in need.
