Heaven is a Meadow
She lives in a meadow
That stretches to the horizon.
There is a gentle breeze
And the sun is always smiling.
In a simple dress,
she dances as she walks,
A slight hop in her step says
That she has no worries.
The sea of grass
Almost reaches her knees.
It sways with her,
And she becomes one with the earth.
There is a soft golden glow
About her
And a man walking
Beside her.
They stroll along,
With patience and content.
There is no rush
And they are both exactly where they are.
She remembers
And he laughs.
Stories are shared
And he listens.
It’s been so long, yet
no time has passed.
He’s been there all along,
watching her love spread.
He watched over her
During those few years,
Not missing a single tear
Or smile.
And she remembers how hard it was,
The struggle to find joy,
To remember without
Sorrow.
She knows now
That the pain
Wasn’t needed.
In the end,
They are together.
But she thinks of her family,
She tells him.
She sees their pain
And knows it is different.
And she asks him
What she can do.
He looks down at her
And says,
“Nothing.
Our journey is over
And we have returned home,
But it is up to them
To decide how to continue
Without you.”
She knows he is right,
And she prays to her Father
That they find strength.
She asks Him
To let them know, somehow,
That she is okay now.
She looks up
At her dad
And she is a child again.
He holds her little hand
And her worries blow away
In the wind.
Because, one day,
It will be her turn
To greet the ones she left behind.
And one day,
Things will be as they should.
Until then,
She strolls in the meadows,
And listens to the rolling creek.
The sun warms her face
As she watches over her loves.
